In her first few months of working at Morris Knolls Ms. Okolita has created a comfortable and safe environment for students to express themselves.
Ms. Okolita went to Whippany high school where she was involved in many afterschool activities, most notably cheerleading. She says that she has always had a desire to help people and to be a good listener. For college, Ms. Okolita went to Seton Hall University where she got her Bachelor’s degree in school counseling and then went to Montclair State University where she got her Master’s degree. She student taught at Bernards High School and then taught at Glen Ridge High School before coming to Morris Knolls.
When Ms. Okolita isn’t at Morris Knolls she is at home being a wife- she recently got married this past October- and enjoys arts and Crafts. Ms. Okolita also shared that she at one point thought about being an art therapist but decided to stick with school counseling. Ms. Okolita enjoys being an emotional support system for students and helping them grow into young adults; she welcomes students to her office for help with any high school stressors. Ms. Okolita believes that a good mantra for life is “What’s meant to be will be.”
