The Morris Knolls Marching Band recently wrapped up their 2022 competitive season, with a show entitled “To The Moon”, featuring songs like “Clair de Lune”, “Fly Me to the Moon”, and “Space Oddity.” After months of hard work, the band placed in the top 10 in state championships, signifying the end to a successful season.

The marching band’s season started in June, with practices running throughout the summer months. The first official performance of their 2022 show was at the season opener varsity football game on September 4th, but their first competition was on September 25th in Roxbury. With a score of 75.4, the band placed 4th. They later went on to perform at three competitions hosted by Randolph, Verona, and Wayne Valley. The season culminated in State Championships at TCNJ, with a score of 84, placing the band in ninth place.

“Marching band was so fun this season!,” said second-year member Robyn Seltzer.  “Between all of the new people who joined and the new things we learned, it was a blast!”

While the competitive season is over, the band still has more performances via parades and exhibitions throughout the year, until the next season which begins again in the spring. In regards to what the band looks forward to for next year, newcomer Matt Lamont says, “I’m looking forward to being able to learn new music, get better at my instrument, and meet new people!” It seems like the band has a great future ahead of them, and hopefully, next year will be just as amazing as this one.
