This year, The Morris Hills Regional district welcomes Mr. Scrufari as a U.S. History I teacher at Knolls and as a contributor to the AVID tutoring Program at Hills. A graduate of High Point High School and Rowan University, where he studied history and education, Mr.Scrufari brings six years of classroom experience at five high schools and one at the middle school level. “Elementary wasn’t an option,” Mr. Scrufari jokes as he has always worked well with older age groups.
Mr. Scrufari explained that his passion for teaching began with his enjoyment of learning history. Additionally, crediting his high school engineering teacher, Mr. Scufari, notes how Mr. Drelick left a long-lasting impact on him. Mr. Scurfari expressed, “I always enjoyed history, and enjoyed bringing that to other people…Come to us for anything and everything!”
Aside from his teachings, Mr. Scrufari is an enthusiast of comic books, playing video games, and traveling. From traveling to Greece, Virginia, and Japan, Mr. Scufari carries stories into the classroom from his travels. Moreover, Mr. Scrufair is curious about the E-Sports room here at MK, potentially looking into becoming involved in the E-Sports club.
Mr. Scrufari recognized the friendly environment here at MK, and emphasizes how the history department is the most interactive he has seen. Mr. Scrufari’s fellow colleague, Mr. Bradley notes, “He is very nice and always gets to school early!” Mr. Scrufari is looking forward to exploring the new opportunities here and continuing his travels, relaying them through his teachings!
