Ms. Roman is a new teacher of electricity, robotics, and computer-aided design (CAD) this year. She is also the adviser for the new Robotics Club.
Ms. Roman went to Kittitiny High School in Sussex County and then studied at the College of New Jersey (TCNJ) where she pursued an Engineering Education. Even though Ms. Roman is new to Morris Knolls, she is not new to teaching. She previously worked at Newton High for two years, but feels she will have a better “work-life balance” at Knolls.
Ms. Roman explained that when she was in high school, her biggest motivators were her algebra and physics teachers. She said that when their courses started to converge, she found it very interesting, leading her to choose a career path that represented that blend in disciplines. When asked about why she wanted to teach high
schoolers specifically, she explained that she is “terrified” of elementary school kids and that high schoolers seemed easier to teach.
Ms. Roman currently lives with her two cats: Freya and Pickles, who is a kitten. When asked about her favorite activities she explained, “I like to paint, I like to sing, I like to play sports” and even explained that she enjoys having a “game-day” with her friends.
Only two months into the school year, she has gained high praise from fellow teachers. “Ms. Roman is an amazing addition to Morris Knolls”, said Mrs. Miraldi, one of her new fellow colleagues in Morris Knolls. “She’s knowledgeable, enthusiastic and overall a wonderful person and teacher! Her experience in many different areas make her a versatile teacher and a wealth of knowledge for the students as well. She inspires us all and we are so excited to be working with her!”
Ms. Roman highlighted that Morris Knolls has “mastered the supportive educational culture and community” and that it has a lot of things to offer. She stated that she would have loved to come here when she was in high school. As a whole, Ms. Roman says that she is very excited to be teaching at Morris Knolls this year.
