May 29 was an afternoon of games, friends, and final memories. The day after Senior Prom, rather than going to class, senior students headed down to Caruso field to spend the day engaged in activities, catching up with friends, and making some final memories together as a grade. With graduation drawing closer every day, senior field day served as a last hoorah for students to have a day free from classes.
Seniors spent the day enjoying their last class gathering prior to graduation by engaging in fun games and activities like tug-of-war and egg races, cracking jokes with each other, and cheering each other on. Some enjoyed playing the games while others opted to watch, and still others found their closest friends in the stands and spent the day laughing and reminiscing about their high school experiences.
Many students had wonderful things to say about the event such as Madelyn Barchetto who reported, ” I felt like a little kid again. It was refreshing to have everyone in the grade all in one place because there is only so much time left.” Overall, seniors enjoyed this day out of classes before final exams and all the preparations that come with graduating from high school to start the next chapter in their lives.
The events brought students from many different social groups together as they let loose and appreciated one another. Event challenges were organized by a bracket system with varying teams competing against one another, which led to some bonding that otherwise would not have happened. It was nice for students to be with their friends and classmates and to be reminded that high school is about relationships just as much as it is about classes and grades.
Senior Joelle Ricafort said, “I felt so happy, because I love seeing my friends happy and smiling.” Most seniors expressed feelings of happiness as the class spent one final day together before all the responsibilities of the real world began to fall back on them.
At the end of the day, a fun filled afternoon left seniors with another Morris Knolls memory to cherish. Although graduation is quickly approaching, Senior Field Day was one more chance to experience all of the fun high school has to offer and embrace the community that the graduating class was lucky enough to be a part of.
