While Mr. Gill enters his first year of teaching in a high school setting, he has a wide variety of skills and accomplishments that make him the perfect fit for Morris Knolls. A Berkeley graduate who worked to receive his MBA, and who now looks to obtain his masters at Stockton, Mr. Gill’s successes go beyond just his academic accomplishments. Mr. Gill creates a learning environment that welcomes all and encourages students to put their best foot forward.
Growing up with immigrant parents, Mr. Gill often looked to his teachers for extra guidance and help in school. His experience of having dedicated teachers throughout his youth inspired him to provide the same for his students. Accordingly, he makes an effort to build bonds with the students to allow for a positive learning environment Mr. Gill discusses his ambitions for his career at Knolls passionately stating, “ I’m looking forward to immersing myself in the community and making a difference in students’ lives!”
Although he always admired his teachers and mentors at a young age, his passion for teaching sparked later in life. He loved the experience of coaching youth sports and wanted to extend his interest. His wife also works as a teacher; which made him consider it more.
Mrs. Malin, one of Mr. Gill’s co-workers described Mr. Gill saying he “ has already brought a wealth of business knowledge and energy to our business department. His passion for the content and his dedication to becoming a great teacher makes us really excited to get to work with him.”
Mr. Gill explained his outlook on his new career, saying “teaching offers the ability to feel successful in helping youth.” He looks forward to bringing his desire to help students thrive in school into work every day, and showing the school just how much fun he can make a simple accounting or personal finance class. Nicholas Tecchio, a senior in Mr. Gill’s College Accounting Honors course, confirms this by saying, “Mr. Gill is a kind-hearted teacher who is very efficient with his work. He is a very good teacher with very good ethics.”
