As they countdown the days, juniors are beginning to get excited for May 15, one of the most glamorous events of the year. Dresses already picked out and altered, matching ties and flowers are ordered, and the perfect night is beginning to look all planned out.
Junior prom this year will be taking place at the Hanover Marriott on the night of May 15 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. With conversation of excitement travelling around the school, it is evident how much the class of 2027 is looking forward to experiencing its first prom: a night full of music, laughter, dancing, and most important, memories.
Junior Elias Aboushanab shares his outlook on prom, stating “I’m excited to go to prom because it is a fun way to get kids to support the school and dance with their friends.” Elias’s comment highlights the joy that getting the entire grade together and having a good time with friends promises.
Similarly, Junior Assembly Member, Janelle Thoby, described her excitement about the event, specifically in regards to the theme of the night, saying “I’m super excited for the masquerade theme because it will enhance the prom experience, especially getting to wear fun masks and accessories.”
Students have already begun imagining what the night will entail. An ordinary room transformed with dramatic lights and music. The night to most isn’t only about getting the expensive dresses and suits, or the extravagance of the venue, but rather the opportunity to spend time with friends and create long lasting memories as junior year reaches its end.
Flashing back to junior prom, Senior Joelle Ricafort discussed her takeaways from the night, stating, “Looking back on junior prom, it definitely was fun. Most importantly, it felt like a preview for what’s in store for senior year and senior prom.”
With conversations of sharing plans, predicting the playlist, and which poses to use in pictures, anticipation abounds. As each school day ends, and the countdown to May 15 narrows, the excitement is becoming more palpable.
