Denville Holiday Shopping Review

Denville Holiday Shopping Review

Downtown Denville: a hub of Morris County, home to a broad range of stores, good eats, and more. With Downtown Denville just a few minutes from Morris Knolls, it is truly a convenient and enjoyable place to do your holiday shopping. During this time of rampant consumerism, I began to realize how important it is to shop at small businesses. From the festive decorations to the wide variety of stores and the welcoming atmosphere, shopping small in Downtown Denville is not only good for the community, but also an overall positive experience.

Taking a look at the specialties of Downtown Denville’s holiday shopping, I found that there is something for everyone. I was personally amazed at how I was able to get a gifts for loved ones of various ages with various interests, all in Downtown Denville. Although there is a plethora of specialty shops lining the streets of Downtown Denville, I took special note of my favorites, and there is no doubt you can find gifts for anyone on your holiday list too.

Sweet Expressions is a downtown Denville favorite for a reason. Upon walking into the vibrant store, patrons are greeted with old-time Christmas decor, warm Christmas lighting, and ribbon galore that makes it feel like walking through a live gingerbread house. It is the little details that make Sweet Expression the magical environment that it is. The holiday gifts that flood the shelves follow suit. The store sells numerous kinds of sweet treats, from pre-packaged to freshly made options. Customers will also find cooking supplies, candles, and other small items for the home. There is also a separate area for youth where you can find non-edible gifts like fidget toys suitable for children of many ages and interests.

Their “Solid Chocolate Santa Claus” treats are specifically worth noting. Fitting perfectly in a stocking and wrapped in a green bag with red ribbon, this friendly chocolate figure makes a great gift. They also offer a “Hot Cocoa Galore Grazing Board”. According to the Sweet Expressions website, it consists of “1 Grazing Board filled with everything Hot Chocolate!!!”  A choice that can be gifted to a family, couple, or group to share. Overall, Sweet Expressions is a versatile shop with treats designed to bring some sweet joy to anyone who tries them.

In looking to find a gift for my female loved ones, I immediately knew Sisters was the store to shop in. Opening the door, visitors will see the various racks and tables of girly favorites. I also enjoyed seeing their holiday decorations of ribbons and ornaments hanging from the ceiling. Sisters is a boutique with clothing, jewelry, trinkets, Denville merchandise, gifts for young ones, and more niche things. Some gift highlights that can be found there are JellyCats and Jewelry. I found everything displayed to be in style. The JellyCats are a great option for kids, but have also grown in popularity among teens. Personally, I bought a bracelet made by Enewton for my friend here. I left with a carefully put-together gift-wrapped item, making the my choice even better than it was before. Ultimately, if you want to buy a personable, feminine gift, Sisters is a perfect option for a special female in your life.

Looking to find something suitable for a male? The Shoe & Sneaker Barn is a key place to go for a useful and thoughtful gift. Specifically, for my Dad, I was able to find shoes that have positive reviews. The Shoe and Sneaker Barn carries highly rated shoes for all kinds of activities. From formal wear to the various athletic shoes, I  was able to note the workout shoes they had. Speaking with Morris Knolls Senior and employee of The Show and Sneaker Barn, Erin Dawson credited her favorite workout sneakers, “The Hoka Bondi or Brooks Glycerin are our most popular men’s sneakers and are a great choice for any guy.” Incorporating comfort and style, buying the Hoka male sneaker was a great decision.

Looking to close out the day with some good food? Cafe Crevier is a great spot. From famous reviews to a nice modern feel, this environment is one to enjoy. Their holiday decorations add to the effect with beautiful lights around. Cafe Crevier always carries intimate lighting throughout, with greenery detailed on the walls.  Senior at Morris Knolls and Cafe Crevier hostess, Madeline Mesa, describes, “Cafe Crevier is a great restaurant and great environment, our most popular pie is the thinny thin!” The great reviews and food that Cafe Crevier has to offer make it a great place also to snag a gift certificate option for your loved ones. The gift of good food will always go far.

An honorable mention for the best possible holiday experience in Downtown Denville is Denville’s Santa Land. Santa Land is off of Clark Street, organized by the Denville Rotary Club. Each year, Santa Land is filled with small decorated cottages with the details of Christmas. There are lights all around, a Manger, and decorative trains. Centered in it all, the tree stands as a staple for Denville’s Holiday Season. I find this time of year to be so special, but the tradition of Santa Land captures the holiday feeling in ways beyond words.

Ultimately, shopping in Downtown Denville holds its good reputation for a reason, especially during this holiday season. I realized that shopping small is a gift that holds great value, knowing it makes an even greater difference. To me, that is a gift in itself.
