Despite Puxatawney Phil predicting a few more weeks of treacherous winter, the signs of spring are starting to sneak in. The days stretch a little longer. The sun feels warmer against your face. Early blossoms begin to bloom, and suddenly everything feels lighter.
To celebrate, MK Students put together a playlist all about fresh vibes, good energy, and the feeling of new beginnings. Whether you are hanging out with friends, studying by an open window, or just soaking up the sun, these songs are perfect for welcoming spring in your own way and seeing what music trends are loved by teens today.
Several seniors volunteered to contribute songs that reflect their own tastes and moods, giving the playlist a mix of nostalgia, energy, and calm. Chris Rainbow’s “Be Like a Woman” brings a confident, feel-good energy that’s impossible not to move to, while Laufey’s “Falling Behind” is soft, introspective, and perfect for those quiet moments when you just want to sit and have a peaceful morning. Soniya Shah’s picks reflect both depth and lightness: Hozier’s “Almost” is emotional and raw, Glass Animals’ “Youth” is playful and carefree, and Gold Ford’s “Orange Blossoms” has a warm, mellow vibe that feels like spring sunshine on your face. Vivienne Berthelot adds her favorite: a mellow touch with The Cranberries’ “Linger,” a beautiful, nostalgic classic, and Clairo’s “Juna,” a calming, intimate track perfect for a slow afternoon.
Sophia chose songs that tell stories: Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” is gentle and reflective, capturing change and growth, while Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” feels like a warm, still, somehow sad moment. Olivia Alvarez brings a mix of contemporary and classic: “Rein Me In” by Olivia Dean and Sam Fender is catchy, emotional, and easy to sing along to; and Tom Petty’s “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” is laid-back, nostalgic, and perfect for a sunny spring drive. Together, their selections create a playlist that flows from relaxed and reflective to energetic and uplifting, perfectly capturing the variety of moods spring brings.
Press play, step outside, and let the music welcome the season with you.
