The MK Multicultural Club recently hosted an Indian Tradition celebration meeting on Thursday, February 26. The meeting consisted of Soniya Shah presenting about Indian Culture, highlighting Indian wedding culture and attire. Before and during the presentation, students ate Indian food courtesy of club advisor Mr. McLaughlin. The main dishes were paneer tikka masala, garlic naan, aloo bhaji, samosas, and rice. Students shared food with friends as they enjoyed watching the presentation.
After the presentation, traditional Bollywood and Indian movie songs were played while Soniya Shah and Sri Mandala applied Henna designs to interested students. The Multicultural Club usually does not do interactive and unique activities like this, so it was a new and fun experience that could shape future multicultural meetings. Students were able to search a design to be copied onto their hands, which resulted in a forever memory for participants. Designs were versatile and ranged from florals to animals and even sparkles.
Overall, the MK Multicultural club aims to have more meetings where there are more cultural interactive activities for students to enjoy culture even more and actively learn more about it.
